Beretta CX4 Storm Seen in NJ

So the guy who bombed NYC and NJ over the weekend has been captured. He was shot by police officers. A terrorists shot down in the the streets is always a feel good story. But what I thought was interesting was the officer standing over him with a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine.

I haven’t thought about these since an old State Trooper friend of mine raved and raved about his little 9mm Beretta carbine. Looks like some other LEO’s agree.

Good shooting.

Such a great picture! As for the Storm, pistol caliber carbines are very handy items, I have a few of my own. And IMHO, Beretta makes a great gun no matter how you cut it.

It is definitley going to increase the reach of a handgun caliber round, and in a metro city area I don’t think that a street officer is going to be engaging anyone out past 100 meters at tops. It is to bad that most manufacturers do not make an affordable model, I am sure that they would sell. Look at how well the little Kel-tecs sell. One of the local dealers can not keep them in stock. I just do not have the means to purchase a CZ, or an HK, and the get them stamped as an SBR. Oh well, I do have a shit hot sling shot!

    • SIG has that MCX or whatever it’s called. But you are looking at well over $1500 for that. As for the effectiveness of a handgun round? One could look at that in two ways.

At most shooting engagement distances, with modern HP, you could do much worse. BUT….

This guy was shot 7 or 9 times and lived. And I don’t know with what types of rounds. BUT…I would venture to guess that it wasn’t with 556 TAP. 7 times? He’s probably be dead.

I do not think that there is a handgun round (outside of some special hand loaded hunting round of massive caliber) that is going to ever be able to deliver the type of hydro dynamic stopping power that you can get from a long gun, no matter what you shoot it out of. That being said, I have heard stories of folks shot with a .25 and dropped right on the spot. But unless you are fortunate enough to hit that golden “off” switch, you are not ever going to get that man stopper magic bean that so many know nothings seem to believe you get from a .45 cal 1911! On this Ahmed guy though, he was shot up good, but nothing hit that golden off switch! For what ever reason, it was not his time to check out.
On the cost of pistol caliber sub-guns… Well, I have about half of the windows we are buying switched out, and have the other half to go, so I will not be making anything even close to an obscene purchase for a while yet! I do like how these new windows look though, and the view was one of the big reasons we bought this house to begin with.
