The final item in the SPAS-12 “project” (Nod to the actual SPAS-12 Project — SPAS-12.com) is a reproduction “correct” sling. The good news is it’s very affordable. We had it delivered for just around $20.00.   Marky www.John1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”

Replacing Buffer on SPAS-12 Shotgun

Here is a time-lapse video showing how to install a replacement buffer in a Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun. It took me 12 minutes and this was my first time EVER detail stripping or putting one together. I made few mistakes, but those are noted in the video so you don’t. Special thanks to the SPAS-12 Project for the support on getting …

Armory Chat EP22 — Bolting Stuff to Your Rifle

Armory Chat EP22. It seems there are some people who might need some explanation on how to bolt stuff to your rifle. It’s not as simple as screwing down a nut or throwing a lever. You need to consider the recoil impulse of the rifle and how that can knock stuff loose.   Marky www.john1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”

Video — Smith Enterprises Vortex Flash Hider

A friend of ours switched from his factory FN muzzle break to a Smith Enterprises Vortex. And it was like a whole new gun. The blast and noise were noticeably less, and it even appears that possibly the harmonics tightened up the 175g groups.       Marky www.john1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”

Video — Why I always Prefer a Sweat Guard

If you don’t want to watch the video, the summation is I use a sweat guard the way a NBA player uses a backboard to make shots. See video for demonstration. Marky www.john1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”

How Not To Operate A HK-91

Saw this happen today at the range. A guy wanted to try out my PTR-91 truck gun? Sure, no problem. And in an effort to be respectful of another man’s gun, he babied it. And induced a malfunction. Here is a re-run of what I told him on how people need to run the HK/G3 roller-locked style rifles.     …

Video — FAL Gas Setting Marked For 55g Wolf Ammo

When you are dealing with many different firearms, a good policy is to double document the settings for those guns. One, if the opportunity presents itself, it is always a good idea to leave some kind of reference on the actual firearm. Second, it is a good idea to keep a master log for all the weapons. In this case, …

Video — Why Are Glocks So Blocky

This subject comes up every time Glock comes out with a new generation. And it really started coming up with SIG 320 winning the service pistol contract. I see two general “suggestions” people have for Gaston Glock. The first is to make a Glock pistol with an “American” grip angle. The second is to make a pistol that is more …

SPAS-12 Broken Buffer Confirmed

Video — Mexican Marines Using Mini-guns Against Cartels

Since El Chapo has been transferred to US custody, a power vacuum has opened up in some Cartel organizations. As clearly as I can tell, open warfare has erupted between Chapo’s kids and some senior cartel members. So what? Right? Well…this open warfare has turned some areas of this Mexican city into a battlefield. Filled with 50 BMG rifles, belt-fed …

Replacement Keepers Concealment Holster Issue

It has displayed a bad tendency that I will need to clean up. When the holster is under compression, it ejects the pistol magazine during insertion. Not great. Luckily, it appears to be an easy fix. As I type, I am currently out of town on business. I filmed this the day before I left. More to come when I …
