Wilson’s True Zero RDS Mount

We have received some questions and inquiries about Wilson’s red dot mounting system: True Zero.  The True Zero RDS mount consists of cutting the slide for interchangeable plates. These plates correspond to different makes of pistol optics. They also have a rear fixed site that is drift-adjustable.  This system is offered as both a factory OEM option or aftermarket.  At …

Mundane RDS Work

Getting the hang of shooting a RDS on a pistol. The biggest change is training my mind to look where the dot is, above the gun, instead of through the irons. If you look where my eyes are relative to the irons, it might be apparent on video.  It’s going pretty well.  Make: Wilson  Model: X9L w/Rail. RDS: Trijicon SRO. …

Bushnell TRS-25: Dot and Adjustment Issues

Freeze was on the range today zeroing some rifles. One of them was an AR-15 with a TRS-25 on it. While shooting it at 100 yards to fine-tune the dot, I noticed it didn’t seem like it was taking adjustment. Then the red dot started to blink out under recoil (1 day old new battery, BTW).  Now for the next questions …

If you are in the middle of a shooting string or in need and your red dot craps out, it’s not the end of the world. Your bullets won’t go flying off into space. Chances are your bullets will land close enough to count if you just use your RDS body as an emergency ghost ring. Our regulars know about …

POTD — M1 Garand with Red Dot Sight

I know this photo will cause quite a bit of ass-hurt but I know of at least one older shooter who stopped shooting his garand competitively since he couldn’t see the front sight anymore. Technology is a good thing.   Marky www.john1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”

Handguns Seen at 2016 Ft. Benning Sniper Challenge

I know the subject of issued military handguns is always a hot-button topic among most firearms enthusiasts. I suspect the reason for this isn’t the significance or primacy of handguns in combat. They are secondary and rarely used. But rather civilians live in mostly a handgun world. So any brand confirmation hits them right in the feels. But let us …

POTD — LED Front Sight

I have noticed an emerging trend by some of the higher end hunting rifles. Led front sights. I wasn’t really sure how I felt about that, but then I saw this image and something clicked. So…it’s kinda like a red-dot sight in it’s application? Interesting.   Marky www.tacticaltshirts.com www.john1911.com “Shooting Guns & Having Fun”
