POTD – DOC Shooting SCAR-20s

[Editor’s note] Doc was on the range Friday for a pre-scheduled event. Brought his SCAR-20s.  The SCAR ran fine. The ammo ran fine. But now he has a new problem: This Thunder Beast Suppressor keeps walking off it’s mount about every 9-14 shots.  Officer Mike suggested some O-rings, and DOC is going to call TB today for some advice. —Editor  …

SCAR-20 155g Load Data

Here is Doc’s load data for the 155g TMKs. The groups are 10 rounds each. 100 yards.  CCI primers.  Federal brass.  155g TMK bullet.  Powder is IMR 4064. Group 1 is 44 grains.  Group 2 is 45 grains.  For those new, Doc is having issues getting his SCAR-20 to stabilize the heavier bullets since the barrel twist is 1:12”.  WARNING: …

SCAR-20 155g Bullet Test

So Doc is finishing up his load testing with his new SCAR-20s. “Doc” and I were out on the range testing some of his hand loads. Here he is shooting some 175g TMK’s in his SCAR-20s.  One of the general concerns that has been floating around our circles for a bit, is the twist rate on Doc’s SCAR-20. You see, European gun makers tend to go with slower twists for lighter bullets.  …

SCAR 20s Has Arrived

One of our good friends, who our readers have seen shooting his SCAR-17s many times, has sold off his 17 and replaced it with a SCAR-20s. It seems one of the SWAT snipers brought one to team training and it was the “Belle-of-the-Ball”.  I don’t have hard numbers, but it is my understanding multiple team members put in orders.  In …
