Truck Gun RDS Replacement

Fate smiled on me this week. I needed a new RDS for the PTR-91 truck gun. And it just so happens we are in the Thanksgiving Christmas sale trend. So when I received word these Bushnell TRS-25 red dot optics were $50. I jumped on it.

Are they good? Are they bad? Dunno. We’re not really gear reviewers. The Aimpoint lives on my SCAR-16. But having a RDS on the beater truck-gun, again for $50, looks like a win-win in my book.

  • Freeze is a huge Bushnell fan-boy and has been pulling for the TRS to make an appearance for quite a while. At this price, I just couldn’t think of a reason to NOT try it.

I’ve used one on my Ruger 22/45 Lite for years with zero issues. Many a backyard rabbit have met their maker because of it.

    • Never thought about putting it on a pistol. But now that I look back, I have seen that body style on many handguns.

I’ve got one on a Saiga 12ga. with no issues and over a thousand rounds of bird and buck through it.

    I have one….it works…stays zeroed…

I have been using a Bushnell “FirstStrike” red dot on my 22/45 and have been happy with it so far. Had one very minor issue when I first purchased it and their customer service folks were right on top of it to sort it out. Good products and good customer service makes it a win/win for me!

    • I hear good things. Look, it’s not S&B. But it seems like a lot of value.

I have one mounted to my Galil Ace “pistol” in 7.62 x 39. Great price, and mounts low enough to still see the iron sights. Have a couple hundred rounds through the gun so far and am pleased with the sight. Good choice for your truck gun.

    • I am wondering how it will sit on the PTR. I need low since the stock is low. Or do I need a riser to get over the drum sight? We’ll find out!
