Let me start with a disclaimer. This isn’t a typical 1911 drill that I post where there are set times and benchmarks to measure against. Although YOU could certainly do that when measuring yourself against yourself in previous runs.
But primarily I am showing this drill for what it’s actually intended to work on: footwork. Yes, the shooting is important because the whole point of the footwork is to set yourself up for a wider range of shots while still moving.
No, this drill isn’t “tactically sound” in the traditional sense of slicing the pie. But…if your goal is to cross as much ground as possible, or to keep moving in a particular direction, while still having the ability to shoot beyond 90 degrees behind you; this is a handy tool to have in the toolbox.
How? In short, by turning your feet it opens your hips to be able to rotate your upper body further (read the gun). If this doesn’t make any sense, no problem. I am not your firearms instructor, just a dude who shoots guns on the internet.
If you want actual online, firearms instruction, I suggest you check out Mike SeeklanderMike Seeklander. He can set you up. I got this drill from him some years ago.
Sincerely,
Marky
