Nighthawk USGI 1911. Ok. Actually not really. But when you look at it, you can certainly see the resemblance. Technically this is named the, “Colt Series 70, by Nighthawk”. Or at least best I can discern. It seems the internet kids slang for this gun is, “Colt Hawk”.
Pretty clever.
There’s a lot to like about this package. One, it could go over very well on an original USGI 1911 project gun. Secondly, it is done with a light touch and just exudes tasteful class.
Two, it makes a significant upgrade to the GI pattern of guns. And that is the spur hammer. But instead of replacing with a commander, they bobbed it and installed a true beavertail grip safety.
Love it.
But there is one big negative for me personally about this gun, and that is the caliber. I am primarily a 9mm guy concerning serious / working guns. So I am not interested in ever buying another 45ACP 1911.
Sincerely,
Marky
