Anderson Dissipator – Recoils Like an M4

Kraken and I take the Anderson Dissipator out for some test shots. It’s a neat gun. Not sure how reliable it will be. I am certain it doesn’t care for Lancer mags. But that’s not the real rub here.

The internet and some gun forums would have you believe that a Dissipator is the best of both worlds. A rifle length gas system combined with a 16” carbine barrel. Additionally a longer hand guard to accommodate that gas system.

Well the truth is something completely different.

In an effort by Anderson to make this gun more reliable for the retail customer, across all kinds of commercial ammo, they opened up the gas-port. This was necessary since the dwell time is shorter from the gas block towards the front of the rifle.

The result is a higher “felt recoil”, or disruption, than a standard 20” rifle. Now again, we are discussing AR-15’s and 5.56 caliber rifles. None of these kick hard. But if the customer picks one of these up thinking they are going to get that long, comfortable, A1 or A4 recoil impulse? It’s going to be disappointment city.

You are better off with a standard M4 (reliable and short) or a standard A4 (longer furniture and smoother cycling action). The Anderson Dissipator is neither.

It’s a Youtube / MEME gun. Nothing more.

Sincerely,

Marky
