When building out the facilities at the John1911 Range, I received some blow-back on my insistence for a full sized washer and dryer, plus the space to fit it. The argument I got from vendors was a small stackable unit should be more than enough for “deer camp”.
Well…none of these folks actually do stuff outside on farms, gun ranges, or “deer camp” in the winter. People get dirty. Clothes get wet or muddy. Sometimes hunting clothes get covered in blood or animal bodily fluids.
And more often than not, these clothes aren’t just clothes. It’s cold weather gear. Fully insulated pants, fully insulted jackets with hoods. And often times, layers of clothes underneath.
If you think this stuff is bulky, we’ve had cops out here in military issued arctic survival gear. It’s even more bulky than hunting gear. If something goes wrong, it would be great to have them back up and running in less than 2 hours. Example of that gear pictured below.
With the washer and dryer I selected, we can have two sets of outer shells (pants & jackets) washed and dried in less than two hours. Or should an individual have ALL layers of his clothes taken out of action, I can have all his layers (socks, underwear, long-johns, thermals, gloves, Underarmor bullshit, etc) and his outer layers washed and dried in less than…say it with me…2 hours.
This is the John1911 gun range. Not the John1911 Arctic Warfare Training Center. Going down with hypothermia doesn’t count as successful firearms training.
The temp outside, right now, is 20 degrees, not counting windchill. Our ranges were “hot” yesterday. And they are “hot” today. I will personally do at least 300 rounds of handgun myself.
Sincerely,
Marky
