Ok, as some of you may have noticed, our content output schedule has slowed. This is because we are in another (hopefully final) round of construction at the John1911 range.
I can’t show much of it, but is the new shooting bench up by the “Coyote Door” shooting station. Didn’t want a huge, heavy bench up there. But…I did want it to be relieved on both the right and left sides for ambidextrous usage.
You will also notice it sits just over an inch lower than the window’s sill. That was on purpose. I didn’t want a situation where a shooter could easily push a front rest, or worse a gun, out the window. Also…if desired, a bipod could be loaded off that sill. Or a block of wood would be set against it, and a gun loaded much further back.
Finally, since the bench is smaller, it could be rotated left or right as desired for the situation.
Right now, I am debating adding some cross-leg bracing to firm up the squareness should the need arise. I also might add a small strip of wood on the table top to facilitate easer bipod loading without depending on the wall itself.
No plan to use it in the immediate future. But I will have to test it at some point. And deer season is fast approaching.
Sincerely,
Marky
