Well…it’s the Spring of 2025 and I think the Greenworks electric chainsaw deserves an update post. Here are some images I took while using it last week. A decently sized tree was down across The Spine Trail and needed to be cleared PDQ.

So here is where the Greenworks saw shines, at least for us. It’s one tree. Decently sized. But still, one tree. Why gas up the big Stihl when we’ve got a battery powered unit ready to go as quickly and easily as your electric drill?
Toss the Greenworks in the back of the UTV and go. No need for hearing protection. No dealing with gas and hot tools. Chop some wood real quick and move on with the range operations.

Not saying this saw replaces a gas powered unit. Not saying this saw can keep up with a gas powered unit. And I am not saying when the wind and storms hit our property anyone even really wants to run the Greenworks. Why would they when we have a large Stihl.
But…if you are not someone who actually starts, runs, maintains and uses gas powered saws at least once a year? Or even for multiple years at a time? I bet this Greenworks saw would work for just about anything large enough a home-gamer would dare to cut. Even in an emergency situation.

Or let me put it this way by creating a scenario. A Greenworks electric saw with a bottle of bar oil, could be stashed away, untouched for a decade, and would fire right up in an emergency. Say…at your grandma’s house or out at the family’s hunting property, no problem. Keep the batteries charged on site. Or bring them with you.
Having an extra, quick saw, always ready has lots of appeal.
Sincerely,
Marky
