GRS Ragnarok Forend
This video is the direct result of someone asking how long the forend is on the GRS Ragnarok chassis. In chatting with him, he was specifically wondering if his “short” barrel would clear the forend to attach suppressors and the like.
Good question. I take this kind of stuff for granted, but if you are in the market for a Ragnarok for a Blaser R8 / R93, and don’t have access to one, forend length might make all the difference one way or another. But now for the complicated part.
By what standard do we measure the barrels? The US BATFE standard from the closed breech face? From just forward of the chamber into the rifling? Or perhaps from the shank – barrel transition line found on all Blaser R8 & R93 barrels?
For the purposed of this video, I choose 2 out of 3. The US legal definition and by the transition line. The first because it’s the law and is easy to standardize on (assuming you have a bolt). The second because it is not uncommon for Blaser owners to be shopping for Blaser barrels disconnected from the rifle itself. Meaning there is no bolt present to legally measure off of.
The Summary: The viewer discovered his barrel would fit the Ragnarok configured to his needs.
Sincerely,
Marky
