7.62 NATO IDF Mauser

Earlier this year we picked up a 7.62 variant Israeli Mauser. Click HERE to see more photos. Our friend Reuven was kind enough to translate the Hebrew markings as they are literally written. —Editor

Ed — Since some markings might be abbreviations, I don’t expect you to know what they mean. But if you could translate what you see, that would be great for our research.

Taas . (IMI),  at their plant in Ashkelon, under license from the Belgium licensor.

RE – It means produced by Taas . (IMI),  at their plant in Ashkelon, under license from the Belgium licensor.

Ed – What are the 2 markings above the serial number on the receiver ring?

7.62 NATO IDF Mauser

RE – Above the number,  the letters are for a lot designation.   Above that vaguely seen is just a symbol of the plant.

The two very visible letters,  stand for “Nekhesh Tzion” .  which was the original name of the company going back to 1948,  literally “Zion arms”
