INEOS Grenadier With Nitto Grappler Tires

So yesterday was a fun time. Cincinnati got hammered with a snow / ice storm. I decided it was in my best interest to head into the office early in the event all the highways got shutdown from accidents. But don’t kid yourself, I was super curious to see how the Grenadier would do in serious driving conditions.

Specifically the Nitto Grappler tires.

I chose these tires over the KO2’s since east of the Mississippi, we are as likely to get rain as we are snow. And KO2’s suck in rain. Well I can now confirm the Nittos are FANTASTIC tires in the rain, ice and snow. I am literally not spinning anything and traction control is never activated.

In the video, right before I turned around, I switched the drive line 4H – Locked. Thus locking the center differential. Up to that point, I hadn’t needed it, but this accident was probably the 10th I had seen in less than that many minutes. So out of an abundance of caution, I switched it over.

Now for the Sheriff Office’s SUV.

He was obviously responding to the wreck I just turned around from. Road conditions changed VERY rapidly and he just got caught behind the curve like everyone else.

Running lights and sirens responding to an injury accident that had completely blocked a major road, his speed and urgency were completely justified. Unfortunately, the road conditions had a say.

When he went to pass the slow traffic on the road, I unexpectedly was there. He had plenty of room so wasn’t in any real danger of hitting me. But he sure got a fright when brakes turned into a slide, which turned into over-steer, which then ping-ponged him in and out of both drainage ditches!

I had to watch the footage closely afterward to confirm he didn’t hit the pole. He did not. Maybe a little alignment work to the wheels and his pride is all the damage done.

I’ll send the raw footage to the department so they can play it at the “company” Christmas Party. Cops love that kind of stuff.

Sincerely,

Marky
