If you want a 1911 that your entire family can enjoy: 9mm.
If you want to set the world,1911-speed-record: 9mm.
In short, when asking about 1911’s, the answer is always 9mm. When JMB chambered the 1911 in 45ACP, that is because he was told to. Today he would be told to do it in 9mm. In the future, if the DOD switches all handguns over to something called .357USARMY (357USA), guess what? The 1911 will be chambered in that.
The 1911 is the platform of the ages. The caliber is just a reflection of the times. Like Lawrence Welk or the Beatles. Get with the times YOU live in! We live in a 9mm world. If you are a serious 1911 “shooter”, a student of the gun, or want to go somewhere in your shooting career?
