Back in the day, this was a real gunfighters carry rig. Retention but quick access.

Some days I feel like this. I’ve been around a long time. I have seen things come and go, and then come back around again. I have also seen technology and equipment drastically change as well. The advent of strong and cheap polymers is something many kids today don’t appreciate. Especially in the firearms field.

Here is an “old school, high-speed-low-drag” retention holster. Even your below-average gun-monkey can understand what the goals were here.

Here’s the thing. I love polymer holsters. I LOVE, LOVE kydex holsters. Because I remember the bad old days when you would have a leather holster on 8-12-16 hours at day. In the rain or snow. Or sweat of the summer heat. And then having that leather hold the moisture for “DAYS”.

I don’t miss holsters like this. But I can still make it work. It’s a part of my generation’s history.
