I snapped these pics since I had never seen one in person before. A Standard Manufacturing 1911.
- Was it built correctly? Dunno.
- Is it full of quality parts? Dunno.
- Are they worth the money? I have zero idea.
Seriously. These could be the best deal in the game or not even worth being a doorstop. I will say this: I have never seen anyone running one of these. Be it in a class. On a range. Or competition.
Perhaps that is a clue? Or maybe they suffer from “unknown starlet disease”. The condition where the world’s best singer lives in the back of some holler somewhere and no-one knows she exists. Again…dunno.
The fundamental problem with the 1911 market is to be made right, they tend to be quite expensive. So the only other way to value them is if they are “good enough” for a cheap price.
This gun sits in the middle of that equation. It’s way too expensive to be a value play. But it’s lack of reputation is such, no-one is willing to give it a chance…for the expense.
Ya’ll go first. I am not a gear reviewer.
Sincerely,
Marky
