This gun has been haunting me for years at this point. It’s a pretty rare-ish Smith & Wesson Model 547. What’s neat about these guns is they are chambered in 9mm but don’t use moon-clips. They have a unique finger system that grabs and head-spaces the 9mm round.
Here are the known issues:
-The gun is prone to misfire. Possibly 40% of the time.
-I am told the hammer is probably not original to make.
-What else in the fire control system isn’t original?
-Is this a parts gun that was put together?
-Or was it heavily damaged and not fixed properly.
Considering how old and out of production the gun is, getting it serviced and running is going to be a chore. Reached out to Smith & Wesson some years ago asking for advice and they indicated they would NOT service or even look at the gun. And went to far as to recommend a smith located in Arizona.
Which is both amazing and terrifying if you think about it long enough. Unfortunately I have had years to dream up all kinds of worst case scenarios.
Sincerely,
Marky
