A guy I was hunting with this past spring showed up with a neat and cost effective may to mount a light to his rifle. Instead of buying some high-dollar, heavy, dedicated rig for a hunt he does once a year. He cheaply and effectively stuck a 1913 rail through a sling swivel and mounted his handgun X300 light to it.
![He mounted and fit the rail himself.](https://john1911.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/x300-Mounted-Remington-LTR-IMG_8314.jpg)
Why? Not? He’s got the light. It’s a rugged and reliable Surefire. And after the hunt is over, off it comes and gets stuck back on his Glock 19.
The cost was the price of the rail and some elbow grease. Or as Freeze calls it, “Short money”.
OH! One more thing. For the record, he shot a monster pig with this setup. Over 300lbs. Hog-zilla of the trip.
![Came out very well for a DIY.](https://john1911.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/x300-Mounted-Remington-LTR-IMG_8313.jpg)
