I recently picked up a nice Smith model 19-3. The dash three version was manufactured from 1967-1977 give or take a few months. It is all original and in very good condition considering it is a 50ish year old revolver. It does show a little holster wear on the barrel and cylinder. Cylinder line is minimal, lockup is tighter than a, well you know, and there is no hammer push.
There is a little wear on the bottom of the grips which are the highly desirable Goncalo Alves target grips. The grips have left side relief for speed loaders and the action is silky smooth. I will be replacing them with a set of Hogues for everyday use. The wood is too nice to ding up.
This gun, along with its sister, the model 66 was THE gun to roll with on the mean streets in the 70’s and 80’s. There were other K frames in wide spread use, but this is the revolver everyone who had a choice wanted.
Yes I heard all the Colt Python die hards roll there eyes.
