Stevens 22-410 update. The extractor was keeping the gun from closing. Turns out a set screw had backed out and was allowing the extractor to rotate out of spec.
Luckily it turned out to be a simple fix and didn’t require a replacement part. However, if I hadn’t stopped shooting and addressed it, certainly the extractor would have been destroyed. My theory about that is bolstered by the amount of Stevens 22-410 extractors, both new and used, that are available on the secondary market.
Something is up with these and people must be breaking them. So no worries if yours is non-repairable. I must have found 100 pieces for sale from various sources. In 2022 consider it a reasonably consumable part.
Sincerely,
Marky
