Toyota Tundra – 260k Engine Overhaul
So…in the midsts of getting the new Grenadier, my daily driver (Toyota Tundra) hit a snag. Taking it in for it’s 5000 mile service, they discovered the water pump was leaking significantly and the valve covers were also leaking!

No warnings on the dash and I didn’t notice anything, but might have mistaken coolant for AC condensation on the floor. Also none of this was present 5000 miles ago, because I follow the OEM maintenance schedule before stuff breaks.
But both these leaking at the same time, at roughly 260k miles, means there is a chance for some ugliness inside the engine. The same engine I would like to go 500,000 on and possibly…jokingly…wish it would make to 1 million miles like all those Hotshot drivers in the oil business.

That means cracking open the engine, taking stock of how good or bad things are, and deciding on a course of action. We landed on engine overhaul with all new gaskets and chains. See pics.
The service, all told, is roughly a 20-25 hour job and the dealer has had it going on 10 days or so. My hope is to keep the Tundra as a partial daily and primary gun range vehicle. The Grenadier as a daily and public facing vehicle for clients. And just use the Porsche as a fun car and not NEED to drive it unless I WANT to.

Or the TDLR: The Tundra will slow down on miles accumulated. The Grenadier will get sky high miles on it. And the Porsche will slow down to a more reasonable run rate.
Get it? Got it. Good.
Sincerely,
Marky
