What Is an Anderson Dissipator?
Well Anderson is gone so why not now to acquire our first Anderson? Makes complete sense, right?
Right.
So what is this thing?
In short, it’s a 16 inch AR with a 20” gas system on it. It’s a concept I “think” originated during the Vietnam War or thereabouts. Basically it’s a shorty AR that will shoot soft like a rifle. But there is a catch. By making these changes you shorten the dwell time of the bullet. Which can lead to malfunctions and less reliability.
The solution? Make the gas-port “bigger” to allow more gas to cycle the system with the shorter dwell time. But…that extra gas has more felt recoil to the shooter. Which…negates the whole idea to begin with. Aka retarded.
But…Anderson made one. Let’s see if it runs and how well? And what they did or didn’t do to get us there. It’ll be fun.
Sincerely,
Marky
