We bought some 55g Wolf Gold ammo for some of our tac rifles. But it got me thinking: Does “Gold” mean match?
Since I fire Wolf 55g steel in this gun, why not put the Gold to test and find out?
The answer: It’s 55g military ball ammo. It’s not trash ammo. But it definitely is bulk ammo.
Sure, I ring steel with it on the rifle range, but it’s not the go-to loading for the 223 Blaser barrel. I actually haven’t really tried find a match load for this configuration yet. I’m using the 5.56 setup as a cheap plinker / position shooting rig.
Specs:
Rifle: Blaser Tactical 2 5.56 barrel.
Scope: S&B PMII 3-12
Ammo: 55g Wolf Gold.
Range: 100 yard.
Position: Prone supported.
Target: 8.5 x 11” sheet of paper.
Disclosure: It is likely that a higher-powered optic would have enabled me to tighten these groups up some. Incase you don’t know, the trick for shooting “bug-holes” at 100 yards is a great trigger while looking through the Hubble Space Telescope.
At least for my eyes.
Sincerely,
Marky
