When Wilson Combat announced they were shutting down the eXperior line, that caused a slight panic here at John1911. You see, I have always wanted a single stack eXperior fully tricked out for all kinds of modern training and shooting scenarios.
Ran out onto the secondary market to see what we would find. Nothing 100% that fit the bill. Namely lack of RDS plates. The other option was to take the existing eXperior and have it heavily modified to accept accessories. The biggest challenge there was a lack of viable aftermarket, bolt-weld on rail options. People don’t really do that anymore, they just buy 1911’s with rails if they want that.
Could have fudged it, but it would have possibly opened up some holster fitment issues down the line.
Later while in a conversation with Wilson about a different subject, I inquired if they had any such formatted eXperiors sitting around. The answer was no, but they did have a few eXperior frames left and at least one was a railed version.
So…the second John1911 Wilson eXperior, single stack was born. And yes, all the traditionalist will bitch in the comments. But first, those folks buy guns and don’t really train with them. And secondly, it seems very few of those folks even bought the single stack, 9mm eXperior’s to begin with.
As such, nobody cares what you guys think. I do what I want. Ya’ll missed out on these guns.
Sincerely,
Marky
