Ran into this at Shooter’s Supply Shop (Loveland, OH). While it’s not really in my wheelhouse, I can’t help but think when will be the next time I get to fondle an honest-to-goodness 1844 Carbine.
Take a close look at the markings on the receiver and butt plate. VR for Victoria Regent, Tower of London maker’s mark, and the curious NY stamp on the butt plate. I can only assume that is a New York state militia stamp.
