Getting the range operational and it occurred to me that I hadn’t tested the new, wireless microphones with the sound of shooting.
This could be bad.
Up until now, for all these years, I have always used a shotgun mic attached to the camera (Shhh….it’s an iPhone. Don’t tell George Lucas). Without going into all the gory details, just know that iPhone mics attempt to level audio to make everything sound normal and even.
Well…the explosion of a gunshot leads to dead audio at spoken word level for maybe 1 second. So I have to be careful when shooting, then talking.
But…it seems like these mics work VERY well in that regard. I can literally talk the entire time I am shooting. Which is cool! But if I mumble under my breath while turned away from the camera, you’ll probably catch that too!
Sincerely,
Marky
