Detail Strip – Custom WWI Colt Pistol
Well…the time has come. A detail strip of the Jack Basham custom 1911 to see what we are dealing with. Overall, besides being dirty, I think it’s OK.
There are two issues that need to be followed up on. One, how worn out is the barrel? If it holds any kind of group, I will just leave it as is. Two, there is a small clearance hitch with the GI thumb-safety. I am hoping just getting the mung out of the gun fixes most of that.
Oh and finally…the original Colt M1911 “base gun” used for this build was made in 1913. So PRE-WWI.
