Ducks For Grenadiers?
So recently had a Grenadier first. Walking back to my truck after picking up some dinner, there was a young women looking at the Grenadier.
And when I say looking, I mean really looking. Specifically she was squatted down looking at the front grille of the truck. Not touching the vehicle. But looking close.
Upon approach, I flicked the key fob to light up the Grenadier and signal my presence. The young lady popped up and excitedly asked if I owned the Grenadier?
The subsequent conversation was very pleasant. Turns out she owned a Jeep in the same parking lot and was looking at the front winch setup. The general gist of her conversation was off-roading, equipment, Jeep clubs and events.
Upon telling her I don’t belong to any clubs or groups, she flatly stated, “I can tell you drive off-road”. With a grin, I revealed that actually I had a large “farm” and use the Grenadier there. (Wasn’t about to bring up gun range or John1911 to some rando in public).
Her eyes lit up with understanding and asked me to wait. She scurried over to her Jeep (how I figured out it was parked there) and came back with a gift: a green rubber duck. Like the ones you see in all the Jeep windows.
I politely gave thanks and salutations and went home with my food. But now I have this green duck. I don’t know what it means. I don’t know if it’s a “Jeep Thing” or maybe even some kind of business card?
It does have a female name written on the back, with nothing else. I assume it was her name, but the duck looks a little used so not really sure what’s going on. Am I in the Jeep Club? Is this a social thing? Or was she hitting on me? Or maybe even…trying to set me up with…her.. mother?!
Dunno. The world wonders. But she was cute and that was a first.
