If you know me, you know I love old police shotguns. Now after some years of waiting for the right deal, we have acquired an Ithaca 37 made in 1969.
Haven’t run down all the specs ourselves yet, but I believe it is a 20” barrel. 6-7 round mag tube. Possibly known as a riot or defense model. The barrel is marked featherweight.
The big thing about these guns is they load through the same hole they eject out of. In some ways, this is more intuitive for the home gamer or beat cop to do such things as “slug select” or riot police specialty rounds.
As for those who will ask, yes it should slam fire. Although we haven’t shot it yet, as of this video, to positively confirm that. And since we are on it, I am personally NOT a fan of slam fire in scatter guns. And no police administrator in their right mind would let their cops carry a riot gun that could slam fire.
But I will add this: slam fire really shows your ass concerning trigger discipline, or more accurately who doesn’t have such discipline. Because with these scatter guns, it’s one shot then finger immediately OFF the trigger before the gun cycles back into battery. Or else.
Sincerely,
Marky
