Off-Road Driver Training

Top of a mountain

We posted some pics a few weeks ago showing the ATV crash we ran across during a training session. One reader so eloquently called it the, “Dying Cockroach”. Which just brings a smile to my face. If you want to see pics of that, CLICK HERE. No, we never found out what the deal was with it. Who’s it was. Or why it didn’t go out on the rescue net.

But as promised, here are some photos from the training. Our team had multiple vehicles and each member took turns mastering a list of skills. Frankly, for me, it’s “fun” doing it once in a while just to stay proficient. But it’s not something I am particularly passionate about or enjoy for more than just the first hour.

Once we are in hours 3-4-6-8, I’m eager to RTB and eat a steak. Special point for the readers who will ask particulars about the vehicles; no. I have no idea. I show up. I drive as needed. Then move on. I don’t know anything about anything regarding x,y,z product or configuration. Remember our “Beer – Jeep” t-shirt design? That’s about as technical as I get.

Snorkels not needed this iteration.

In closing I will add this. I have heard rumors that we will be needing to attend “winch school” and this provider is interested in providing the training. All I can say is, there better be a damn fine steak ready when we are done! With lots of butter! And sparkling water!

And probably a shower.
