The Rack Hub system finished and installed in the barn.

Rack Hub Antler Mount

As reported earlier on this website, I ran across a set of dropped, deer antlers in the back woods of the John1911 range. What are commonly called, “sheds”. They were so neat, I decided I to hang them in the barn.

After looking around the internet at various solutions like fake skulls and weird plastic thingy’s, ran across a company called Rack Hub.

The parts laid out.

The long and short of it is, you buy their rack. It comes with two ball joints with hard-points sticking out. You drill some receiver sleeves into the antlers and set them over the hard-points. Then adjust the ball joints to get whatever width / separation you want.

Mount the antlers in a vise.

The only downside to the system is cost. Anywhere from $70 to $180 dollars. Basically a good, better best model. Or put into an Elmer Fudd scale: Skull Mount, Whitetail Antler Mount, or Moose Rack Mount.

Drill holes straight down with provided tapping bit.

These are my terms, but you get the point. For the record, I bought the “Whitetail Antler” mount. What they call the RH2 for around $90. Also for the record, these folks have no idea we exist  nor would they care.

Summary: It’s pretty cool. Looks great. Is VERY well made. Also the system allows you, if you so chose, to swap out antler sets by having other sleeves already tapped and ready to go.

A closer look at the adjustable ball-joints and locks. It’s a very nice, powder coated, setup.

It is pricey. But looks good. Is well made. And avoids the whole fake-skull thing just to stick sheds on the wall. Certainly some of you Bob Villa types could make your own mounts or placards for less. However at my skill level, and probably not someone who will ever find another nice set of sheds again, I am one and done.

Their website is www.rack-hub.com but I found my set on Amazon.

Sincerely,

Marky
