I first saw these loads at the 2015 SHOT Show under the PolyCase brand, but they have since teamed up with Ruger and in October 2015 launched Ruger Ammunition. This may well be the next generation of premium self-defense ammunition. The new line features PolyCase’s ARX bullet technology–a polymer matrix that performs in a wide range of firearms and is engineered for maximum hydraulic displacement and terminal energy transfer to targets. It doesn’t rely on expansion, instead the energy is transferred to the target by the shape of the radial flutes, which serve to pressurize and redirect fluid matter laterally.
The new Ruger Ammunition line is currently available in .380 Auto, 9mm Luger, .40 S&W and .45 Auto.

In 2008, Mayer returned to the editorial side of publishing, this time in the digital field, as Editorial Director for Guns & Ammo, Shooting Times, Handguns and Rifleshooter online magazines. After a brief stint in 2011 as the Digital Media Director for an ABC TV affiliate, Mayer returned to the outdoors industry and Safari Club International where he is currently Assistant Publisher and Multi-Media Communications Editor.
