Here are some pics we took while visiting the Cody Firearms Museum. A pretty rare gun in the US, the SVT-38. A predecessor to the SVT-40.
The long and short of it was, the SVT-38 ended up being too fragile for military service (1939 Winter War), so was pulled and upgraded to the SVT-40.
We have these images (among others) on file should we ever run into a SVT-38 and need to check it for completeness.
