Shim The Battery – Trijicon SRO
Well…this was a first. Pulled the X9L out of the armory to get it ready for training. Been in there for over a year. Well…the battery was dead.
No big deal. Was due to be changed anyway. So after doing all of that, the RDS still won’t come on. After some fiddling, I get the dot to appear, but when manipulating the slide, it blinks out.
So…I know the electronics work. What do so? Time to clean the contacts, bend the metal tangs back up, clean and wipe the o-ring and cap. Re-install new battery.
Things light up as they should. Manipulate the slide and…system blinks out.
Now I know it needs to be shimmed. How that is accomplished is with some hockey tape. Seems to be holding, but we’ll see under heavy and repeated recoil this week.
