Update to some old news: I have acquired a new Surefire X300 light. Technically I believe this is the, “Surefire X300u FDE”. I do not know if there are different lumen levels for these x300’s, but this one is 1000 lumens.
Confession time. I haven’t bought a Surefire X Format light since the X200. Yes, really. And for those wondering, we still have it and…it works! Which is saying something since it is probably older than many of our readers!
I have quite a bit of experience using flashlights while handling weapons, but haven’t practiced it much since becoming a “Day Walker” on 08-09-08.
So here’s to going from 60 lumens on board to 1000. Probably too much for clearing small apartments and trailers, but will be useful at our gun range at night.
Administrative note: This is the “B” version of the Surefire. Not the A. The difference being the B uses a thumb-wheel to tighten the body to the pistol rail. Resulting in a snug, movement free lockup.
Our X200-A shakes like a crackhead crumbing the carpet looking for rock at Motel 6. Which I absolutely hate. So for the home gamer, when looking to buy a Surefire X300 light, get the B variants with the thumb-screw every, single, time.
I don’t know of a single accomplished pistol shooter who can stand loose gear rattling on their pistols.
Stay tuned.
Sincerely,
Marky
