Everyone understands a traditional 1911 takes a little more maintenance and upkeep to keep in running shape. Especially when compared to modern striker guns. So instead of trying to type all of this out, it is just easier to demonstrate it in a video.
How I keep 1911s running in high round count training cycles. Aka, “Tailgate lubing”.
Here is a primer for both:
Full lube before class:
- Rails
- Bushing
- Lugs
- Disconnecter
- Hammer / sear hook
Tailgate lube during class:
- Bushing
- Rear rails
- Hood / barrel lugs
- Dress chamber / ramp with bore-snake.
Sincerely,
Marky
