Broke down and purchased one of these fancy stools for the new cleaning station at the John1911 range. The store bought hard-ass specials were just not getting it done.
Are they worth the price? I think so. Just got it.
Is it comfortable? Yes.
Is it well made? I would say extremely so. Almost like something from the 1950’s. Here is an example: all the nuts and bolts are US made. Cool right? Now look at the hardness ratings for the hardware. They are yellow zinc coated grade 8!
That’s way higher than needed for a stool.
Two things I notice about the Vyper now that it’s here. First interacting with it, touching it, moving it, etc. It seems substantial. I don’t mean heavy. I mean how it sits, moves, rolls, and doesn’t flex. Substantial.
The second thing you will notice is the detail of the individual machined parts. The wheels moving across the floor will seem like the best rollers you have ever had. The acme screw that holds up the seat looks and feels like a machinist’s work of art. The notion to gaze at the spiral lines and to touch them will be overwhelming.
If you are a nerd for quality or a trained machinist, this stool is probably for you.
