1903 Springfield – USMC Sniper
The first sentence of this post has to get the obvious out of the way. This is a faux sniper. Or at least we have to treat it as one since it has obviously been heavily refinished and fluffed.
The metal work has been re-parkerized (well I might add). The stock has been so heavily refinished that any collector value is in essence zero. But…it is…gorgeous. The scope is a reproduction. And I can only hope the rings and bases are correct since I didn’t do any homework on this before I bought it.
But…it was priced right since none of the usual collectors would ever touch it. But as a shooting / reference gun, it pairs up perfectly with our faux German Sniper.
And the best part of the whole deal? It’s done. I can’t emphasize that enough. “No new major projects”, is my motto. Not at least until I dig us out of the current backlog of builds, repairs and sad-sacks.
We bought it as a complete gun and it can be shot on day one. At the John1911 Armory, that’s what we call a Monday morning win.
Sincerely,
Marky
