So while digging through The Armory’s holster collection, I ran into something I haven’t seen in probably 15 years. A Milt Sparks leather magazine carrier.
Unused.
Needing a mag pouch for the 9mm project, I figured this would be fine. Much like Glocks, accessories for 1911s tend to work across many models and makes. That does not happen for the VP9.

Well…looking at the carrier, it is literally new and unused. Which isn’t a surprise since at heart I am a kydex holster guy.
But that brings up another issue I haven’t even considered in close to 20 years: Breaking-in leather holsters. And this carrier is no exception. It is way too tight for functional use.
The solution?

Wrap the magazine in a sandwich bag and store into the carrier. Typically this is done overnight. And needed to be re-done multiple times. But it does eventually open things up enough to a make them usable.
Will I use this carrier on the daily? No. I prefer Kydex or even the pocket-carry-reload. But no reason not to get this running since the 1911 is on deck.
Sincerely,
Marky
