Bullseye Range – First Shots
Been a little while since I have published regularly. That has been because we are swamped with range and business projects. But that is getting behind me.
So…I introduce you to The John1911 Bullseye Range. Unfortunately thunder and lighting was less than a mile away during filming, so I was rushing to get this test in. With a carbine no-less!
However…why another range you might ask? First that’s easy. No…really. It’s because that range is easy. If I need to do some zeroing or function testing, it’s just steps away. No need to schlep ammo, gear and cameras down into The Pit or rifle range.
Secondly, it gives me another range for Armory work if the main ranges are in use by a visiting PD. In short, our in-house work doesn’t have to stop just because we have company.
Finally, and I can’t stress this enough, I have tried to use standard IDPA target stands up by the barn. But we get so much wind up there, it’s functionally impossible to test for mechanical accuracy. So permanent stands were called for. But…it also has to be removable, with the receivers installed below grade, for grass cutting with the tractor.
Took a little bit to get it all together while also working the regular to-do list. But here we are. Build a range they said. It’ll be “fun” they said.
Fun if you measure “fun” by giving yourself a non-paying, part-time job! HA!
Sincerely,
Marky
